I'm learning about bipolar disability claims →
“For example, you would satisfy the criteria if you had 4 of the depressive symptoms, PLUS 3 of the manic symptoms, AND these had caused you to have 2 of the category B problems, such as marked difficulties in maintaining social functioning, AND marked difficulties in maintaining concentration.” Interesting.

Bipolar Article Attempt # 16 or 17
Writing about bipolar disorder has somehow triggered some personal problems. I can’t focus. This is the best thing I’ve come up with so far: A lot of people are bipolar. This problem affects a bunch of Americans. Do some research sometime and find out what the statistics say. You will be very surprised at what you learn.

No, I didn't kill myself.
I’ve just been busy at work. This week I have to write for a bipolar website. What a treat! Last week death and grieving, this week, mental illness. I haven’t started writing any of my articles yet cause I’m still in the “research phase” (aka watching it snow in Flagstaff on the NAU webcam and daydreaming about what it must really feel like to be a hipster in...

Today is Ugly Christmas Sweater Day at the Office
I’ve been teetering on the edge of my sanity for about a month now. Things get pretty bad, but then I’m saved by the realization that the world has incredibly beautiful things to offer. Like the CW’s week-long Vampire Diaries marathon. Nothing cures suicidal thoughts quite like the dream that you too may someday be involved in a complicated relationship, regarding statutory laws...

Plié, Pas de Bourrée
This morning, for the first time in a really long time, I felt partially alive. So much so that I took a shower, washed my hair, and put on a clean pair of underwear. I took extra time to get ready, put on some makeup, and paid special attention to my outfit. When I looked in the mirror, I felt pretty. Feminine. Like a ballerina. Turns out though, I really look like a delusional 29 year old...

Coping with the Loss of Your Sanity
Currently, I work as a copywriter for a web development company. I think it’s driving me a little crazy. This week, at the height of my seasonal depression, I had to write about how to cope with death and grieving. I have a feeling that my article isn’t exactly what the client had in mind. ***** The death of a pet is a confusing and scary time. There is no formula for grieving, and...

So do me a favor, unhappy girl at the Dunkin...
This morning I decided to get a bagel at the Dunkin Donuts drive-thru window. The young woman behind the counter was making it painfully obvious to me that she hates her job - which sucks - but it’s not my fault. Within five seconds, she’s got me saying, “I’m sorry” to her for a million different reasons. My car’s too far from the window. She has to stretch....
